When I think of happy people, the first face that comes to my mind is that of Oprah Winfrey. Her smile, energy and enthusiasm is contagious and it can bring about a feeling of joy to the people around her.

The consistency in her behavior made me observe many other happy people around me, study their behavior and figure out common habits in them that could be shared with my fellow beings.

Being in a happy state and making others happy is the best measure of one’s success in life, according to me. I am not here for a debate and my joy lies in sharing the habits of happy people with you, my beloved readers.

Have you ever noticed how some people spread joy and happiness to others around them? They don’t carry a magic wand along with them to do so, except they are happy themselves. You can radiate happiness only if you have genuine love and you are happy.

From my months of keen observation and analysis, I am giving you a list of 10 highly rated habits of happy people like Oprah Winfrey.

  • Start the day with a thanks giving and expectation:

Be thankful to God (beg your pardon my dear atheists) that you woke up alive. Expect that God has planned something great for you today.  The Almighty have always stored something good for us.

  • Learn to appreciate:

By the term appreciate I mean two things. Firstly, to appreciate of what you are blessed with…loving family, supportive friends, naughty kids and the list goes on…

Secondly, learn to appreciate others. If your wife is looking stunning today in her new gown, don’t hesitate to appreciate it. Who knows your one word appreciation can make her day today.

  • Smile:

I always feel happy when my best half says that it is my smile that he loves the most in me. A loving smile can brighten up the day of each and every one you meet up.

  • Be close with nature:

Take up 20 minutes from your busy schedule and observe the beauty of the nature. Hear to the chirping of the birds, smell the fragrance of flowers and enjoy the cool breeze of the trees. Being close with nature will soothe your soul.

  • Respect others:

Learn to respect and accept people as the way they are. Touch their heart with a generous spirit and try never to defy them.

  • Say Thank you and sorry wherever possible:

We always take our loved ones for granted. You may say thank you or sorry to your colleague and boss but not to your partner. We always think that it’s their responsibility to do so. A thanks giving nod or saying sorry will give you a peace of mind.

  • Eat healthy food and control your appetite:

Healthy food will purify inner soul. Eat good quality food in right quantity. Try to include more vegetables in your diet. This will make you feel light and will for sure enhance your digestion process (need of the hour, in the world of constipation).

  • Say I Love you:

Let people know how much you love them. I say at least twice to my hubby that how much I love him. Saying I Love You will strengthen the bond between your relationships.

  • Stay Positive:

Have a positive outlook towards life. Expect that whatever happens to your life is for good. Keep away the worries and focus on what you do.

  • Review the day and end with gratitude:

Before going to bed, review the day as what happened and what have you done to be happy and make others happy. Be grateful to God for the beautiful day given to you.

Inculcate these habits in your daily routine and see what difference is that making in your life. Ask me or Oprah Winfrey, if you don’t see any difference…
